The last trains to TVA Gallatin ran in 1997 due to complaints from the city about the coal trains blocking several major streets in town (the trains had to use the old Scottsville/Hartsville branch to reach the TVA spur). Coal is now barged to the facility and the TVA spur is out of service past the Airport Rd. crossing. Month and day are not approximate.
TVA brought its "Baby Trainmaster" out to display at the "Spirit of Tennessee" Bicentennial Train's stop at Gallatin during the summer of 1996. The locomotive is still stored at the Gallatin Steam Plant, but rail shipments to the facility have not occurred since 1997.
This SP Construction Services train worked on the Main Line Sub a lot during the summer of 1997 installing fiber optic cable along the line.

The famous "Baby Trainmaster" is "laid up good order" at the Tennessee Valley Authority's Gallatin plant. Built in 1958, it has spent all of its existence here & is the only one of its kind left in the United States. CSXT Q57424 Climbing the Tennessee Ridge at MP 000154. Pigeons roost was actually a location halfway up South Tunnel hill that was a flat part of the hill.
