A 179 car coal train rolls under the SCL at N Collier as it makes its way down to NWs Norfolk coal piers. I wonder how many tons wound up along the right of way-look at the coal blowing off the cars!! The power was typical of these trains-this one is light, trains longer than 200 cars were common-as there is little gradient to overcome. Nice to see a Southern unit leading.

Norfolk Southern Flat Bed Train 10X makes their way Westbound as they pass through 43rd Street in Birmingham, AL. with NS former BN SD40-2 3514 leading the way. They are seen here heading to BNSF East Thomas Yard to drop the 89 Flat cars off then from there they will be transferred over to CSXT. This same NS 10X had ran earlier in the day Northbound from Meridian, MS with UP 6606 leading, they were dew to take the flat cars to BNSF then but the dispatcher changed the plans & told them to come on to NS Norris Yard in Irondale, AL. & they would take the flat cars over to BNSF later in the day, worked out really well for me as I was able to catch both of them, the afternoon run of 10X being much better as seen here in this photo
