I didn't expect to see this train again, but when I saw it came to a slow stop well east of the yard, I zipped over and was just in time to see it cross Phillips Road and enter the CP Welland yard.

The CP yard switchers have snagged a long string of empty autoracks for a move to Welland yard. Here, at Feeder Road, there is a small opening for service vehicles that provides a fine vantage point to see the CP trains, and the occasional CN or Trillium train.
The two CP switchers have finally arrived to couple onto the empty autoracks, and haul them up to Welland yard.
The two locos are now on the storage track, approaching the empty autorack consist.
After readying the empty autorack train, the power duo has rolled back under the Welland Canal, all the way to Feeder Road, to switch onto the storage track. The empty autoracks are still back at Miller Road.
I patiently waited for the two CP switchers at Miller Road, but the locomotive duo stopped adjacent to the end of a long string of empty autoracks that have been stored for months. It was here I realized that the crew was about to move these cars, and were releasing the brakes to get the train moving. On the left a brand new natural gas pipeline is being installed.
I first caught these two CP yard switchers heading east out of the Welland yard, and figured they were doing their daily move over to CN Southern yard. But that was not where they were going...

CP/CN freight transfer, fresh out of CN Southern yard with one hopper and nine tank cars, rolls over the CP Hamilton Sub. 15 minutes from now this train will be on the CP tracks headed back to Welland yard, after looping around the Brookfield connector track.

With #3134 now in the lead, CP/CN freight transfer leans into the wye at Yager, after snagging a handful of cars at CN Southern yard.
Another gloomy December day has me chasing these two fine GEEP rebuilds. First, I caught the two engines running light from Welland yard over to CP Southern yard, then on the return trip with a string of mixed freight cars.
All is quiet at CP Welland yard on Boxing Day 2020.
It's even quieter at the normally active CP Lambert Street yard, where two lowly yard engines quietly rumble, with nothing in the order book on this the day after Christmas.
