RJ Corman with the second section of a coal train for NS.
While most railfans visiting the Altoona, PA. area observe a constant stNeam of Norfolk Southern trains, bright red R.J. Corman locomotives help to break up the parade of black with occasional coal trains that appear in the town of Cresson along NS's Pittsburgh Line. In this view, seven of the rxd units prepare to return to R.J. Corman's small Cresson Yard after leaving 99 loads of Central Pennsylvania coal at the NS interchange at Milepost 251, in front of the Station Inn, on July 30, 2009.
The first section of RJ Corman train RJC1 sandblasts its way around a 50-degree curve and up the 4% grade North of Cresson, PA, with Fallen Timber loads bound for Cresson and the NS interchange on Friday, July 28, 2006. The train is running on wet rail due to a summer shower, adding to the show!
