ELDW, headed for Detroit with 95 auto parts cars and steel, rolls out of Elkhart yard in the rain.
CR 3301 sits in the Erie yard waiting for a call to duty on Monday morning. Whats that off in the distance?? Yes, its a CP 4-6-2. The Steamtown engine has pulled an excursion up from Scranton, and is turning via Bevier St on the D&H. We see it here backing up the Buffalo Runner.
Six Conrail engines handle this train at Elkhart.
CR 3370, 3390, and 3301
Here's your typical CR TV train of the early eighties: four GP40 and/or GP40-2's, two forward and two backwards. And an endless string of TTX flats. Rolling west at Sewickley, PA.
The new GP40-2s were a staple on Conrail Trailer Van trins on the old NYC West Shore. This hotshot train ran from Chicago to Croxton at the time. It should have left Chicago Englewood at 1:30a, reached Elkhart at 4:15a, Toledo XV at 9:00a, Cleveland at 1:15p, Buffalo 6:30p, DeWitt at 11:00p, Selkirk at 2:15a, and through here at about 8:00a. Judging by the length of the shadows it was running pr\tty close to on time on this day.
