An NS work train and Interstate 20 both curve into one another. With the parade of trains on the rails of NS's East End from Birmingham to Atlanta and with the same yet more consistent parade of semi's along a nearly I-20 it's a game on competition wise. Who makes the grade within that is uncertain but in another term of grades, it looks as if I-20 has a stiff one here at mile marker 148 or M.P. 776.2 for NS at Brompton, AL.

NS Northbound Local Freight Train A20 ( Wilton to Birmingham, Al. ) passing through 43rd Street in Birmingham, Al. with the class PR43C leading the way. The PR43C is built by Progress Rail Services with a 4,300 Horsepower Caterpillar Engine, a 3,600 Horsepower C175 & a 700 Horsepower C17 Caterpillar Engine
NS Southbound Local Freight Train A21 ( Birmingham to Wilton, Al. ) has cleared up at the Boral Brick Company at Sparks Gap, Al. for 62Q to head north
NS Southbound Local Freight Train A55 ( Birmingham to Boligee, Al. ) heads into the siding at Tuscaloosa, Al. on their way to interchange with AGR in Boligee, Al. A38 relieved A55 at Tuscaloosa, Al. on this day, most of the time A55 runs out of time before they make it to Boligee & has to get relieved by A38, which is the northbound counterpart of A55, at one time the northbound counterpart of A55 was A56, now it's A38. Between Amtrak & other higher priority trains A55 doesn't have a good chance of making it over the road most days due to having to work Bessemer & Tuscaloosa, Al.
