A broadside view of the power on todays 261, seen across the field at Westville.
...with apologies to JS Bach. A herd of cows grazes peacefully as the 261 rolls by.
A zoom in yields a better look at the power. Five units becomes hard to shoot and get the whole consist when there arent good open angles. This is a good one.
The first of several looks as the 261 rolls past one of my favorite vistas north of Westville. Taken from the old US 59 alignment, up on the hill.
The 261 rolls across Baron Fork Creek, its lead two units emerging into the sun from the shadow of the trees.
The 261 rolls north in the shadows of the trees now that the sun angle is getting low.
The 261 passes the waiting oil train, passing between the signals at North Stilwell
This was quite the international meet, with KCS, CP, and KCSM all represented here.
The 261 arrives at South Stilwell amid a lot of lineside clutter.
The 261 takes the siding switch at South Cave Springs, five units leading its 131 cars.
I chased down to Cave Springs, wanting to get the 262 on the curve at Bunch, only to find the 261 waiting south of the south switch of CP Cave Springs. Hed shortly start into the siding.
The head end passes a small herd of cows, who are mostly disinterested in the trains passing. They do make for an enhancement of the photo.
We were on our way back from visiting grandkids in Tahlequah, coming home via US 62 to Westville and US 59 north. A few miles north of Westville, we ran up against this southbound grain train, which I caught here at CR 690.

I was out in the driveway and heard the horn of a northbound. The light was getting low, and I thought I would not have much of a shot, if any. To my surprise, there was just enough light left at Tahlequah St to get the empty TXUX trains leader with the little bit of light left.

You see why the rebuilt/repainted engines like lead unit 8004 a couple photos back in the album are a welcome respite! The AC panel off a blue CEFX cousin is a "nice" touch.
