UP Line
I didnt beat the head end to the next crossing, but did get there for the rest of the train. Something KCS has not been doing the last few years is positioning distributed power mid train, so it was a bit of a surprise to find these two units 50 cars deep. The 9752 would bounce back and forth from KC to Shreveport several times over the next couple of weeks.
The northbound slows for the meet with a southbound at Noel, here along Butlers bluff, and Butler Creek.
I was just catching up to the head end when he reached Gentry, and decided to go to this little spot north of Dorsey siding for the scenic shot-and to count 148 empty hoppers.
The power, five units, too many even for a good wide shot, cross Davidson Rd and keep on north. The two trailing units were a mid train helper on the previous days southbound grain move.
As always, I heard a horn while out working in the driveway, and took chase. This time, it was an empty grain train that I caught at Davidson Rd. It was too nice to go back and do yard work-temp in the mid 50s and bright sun-so the northbound chase was on.
