UP 6451 leads an out bound UP freight that is currently sitting in the Alton & Southern connection tracks in Mitchell, Illinois.

UP 6451 slugs up .6% grade at Aikins with an eastbound GRDX loaded coal train. Such trains used to run via the BNSF to Kansas City then be transferred over to the UP but at least somewhat recently that routing changed.

Westbound coal. The 3rd one I saw on this day. At the time of this photo there were 5 trains between Topeka and Salina. Quite impressive considering the line is usually used by 10 trains a day.
