Eastbound through MP 28
An eastbound mixed manifest with a quartet of units (one of them NS) had a crew busy with doing nothing than marking time while "taking the hole" at Wayzata. Just over an hour from now, a spectacular show will pass by on the pain track: Milwaukee Road 261, eastbound for Minneapolis from Willmar.
Since the main track signal visible in the far right corner) is blank, you might assume this eastbound freight had been stopped for no reason. Soon, however, the light will flash green, because Milwaukee Road 261 was chugging eastward from Willmar when this picture was taken.

BNSF DPU 5760 & NS manned helper 7626 push on the rear of a BNSF coal train. The NS unit will cut off in Hiram and run back to Rockmart for the next coal train.
