One number in each of DM&IR's roster. A SD40 - 3 leads a SD-M and a SD38AC. This scene can't be replicated anymore, it's sad, but the thurth is, once a Class One gets their hands on a shortline and they retire older power and bring newer units to replace them
Noth many of these around anymore and none on DM&IR as CN retired them all. But it was nice to see these first generation diesels on a working railroad
What's better getting a Dash 9 lead a loaded taconite train or a SD40 - 3 (Rebuilt Tunnel Motor) in Maroon and Gold paint? I would take a Maroon and Gold unit leading over any Dash 9. But here we see DM&IR SD40 - 2 #405 lead DM&IR SD-M #308 and DM&IR SD38AC #200. #200 is also the Class Unit of the SD38 series on the DM&IR roster
A trio of Maroon and Gold motors are on Dock 6 working on a loaded taconite train. We would catch them going up the Hill light
