PNWR 2606 and 2603 both sit at the PNWR shops
Southbound at the south end of Minto Brown Park
I've bden seeing this beautifully symetrical set, with its interestingly faded SF heritage schemes, running back and forth through Portland for a couple of weeks now. This is the first time I've managed to catch it wkth my camera though.
A quartest of PNWR GP39s heads into Portland while railfans of all stripes wait for SP 4449 to return from its wye turnaround at the north end of the city.
PNWR 2306 currently in the lead as she crosses under the 39th Street over-pass bridge and below the signal tree entering the north ladder yard area preparing to switch off the main after her sunset trip from Portland.
PNWR 2306 - PNWR 2317 - PNWR 2314 local trio from the sunny south making their way past the middle ladder yard of Vancouver Center to reach the northern end where theyll snag the local mixed freight and return to Portland. (for the photographically inclined - "Yes, the vertical crop looks aesthetically much more pleasing." - but I wanted all three units in the frame... and having no time to run across a hazardous road in this weather crud, well, "You get what you get, and you dont throw a fit.")
PNWR 3007 - PNWR 3004 - PNWR 2306 - PNWR 2302 - BNSF 2721 idling up before heading outbound and south into the drizzly night from Vancouver with local mixed freight.
PNWR 2306 as three-of-five and the homely one of the bunch, but wearing her rust with pride... or maybe just plain resolution... preparing to go butt-first with mixed freight back south.
PNWR 2312 - PNWR 3007 - PNWR 2317 - PNWR 2306 sloshing into Vancouver Center and making way to the (right) north to snag a local group of mixed freight before reversing direction and hustling back south across the bridge, where theyre pushing for their own record levels of rainfall.
PNWR 2310 - PNWR 2312 - PNWR 2306 yellow-bonnet re-registry parade preparing to snag the Portland and northwest Oregon local line-up and swim back home across the river to homc territory.
PNWR 3007 - PNWR 2306 - PNWR 2308 - PNWR 2305 in the order she came northward - to be reversed in the near future after moving back up into the yard after the passenger traffic clears.
PNWR 2306 at third nose-to-the-south slot out of four preparing to re-shuffle back into position in a few minutes after moving to the far track at the station platform out of the way of an incoming Cascades touch-and-go.
PNWR 2305 - PNWR 2308 - PNWR 2306 - PNWR 3007 local power quad sliding up into the far main along the station coming down from the north - potentially in a holding pattern to move her out of the way of the soon to arrive south bound Cascades (and with the near rails still warm from the just departed southbound Amtrak 510 pair - talk about a neat Saturday on deck (my thanks to the beloved for suggesting services a day early for a change).
PNWR 2306 at the front of the local trio headed back south with mixed freight about a half-hour after last seeing her in the north yard at Vancouver center trading out consists sliding into the still warm tracks on the deck of the station, preparing to pause while the previous UP double stack clears out.
PNWR 2306 - PNWR 2315 - PNWR 3007 completing the local switch-r-roo from 3007 being in front for the northward journey across the Columbia River to 2306 to take point on the return trip. The trio paused between consists just north of the 39th Street bridge Im currently using for a brief moment of cover from the rain while trying to clean the lens and figure out my own stupidity for leaving early to church "so I could have at least 30 minutes of almost daylight" before darkness falls in another 15-20 minutes... turned out to be thirty extra minutes to perfect my wet dog smell which I achieved far quicker than expected wearing Sunday Goin-To-Meetin clothes. To all those seated in the neighboring pews, I apologize for putting serious pew into those same pews (honestly - in some societies wet dog smell is the aroma of royalty!).
PNWR 2306 in heavy rain during changing consist groups in front of a pair of her sisters readying for the return home. The brightness of the image not accurately reflecting just how dark it truly was at 3:40 in the afternoon at the time of snapping this picture in heavy rain and fall of night in the Pacific Northwest. If you have any doubts, check out the starboard-bow step lights glowing on the front truck.

The Harbor Turn heads out of the Cornelius Pass tunnel and will climb Cornelius Pass to reach Harbor.
Not exactly the best spot for a photo, but whatever!
From Hillsboro to Beaverton the train runs away from the sun and nobody likes shots looking into the sun! haha
