Two 38s hustle 64 east at 1207.
FRA Inspection train heads west on the Waseca Sub.
After the crew pulled some covered hoppers, I was hoping they would back down onto what remained of their train on the main (a single tank car) and start for Madison, so I could get a few more run-bys. However, they shoved into yet another spur.
In my 12 years or so of railfanning, I've never seen two CP 3000s paired together before.
Third time I've watched the switching operations here, but first time I've seen them use this particular spur.
In its original configuration, the DLW S&U lines crossed the D&H here at a location called BX and went to East Binghamton yard, which today is used by CP. The D&H Bevier St yard was(is) to the left out of the photo, It commected here to the DLW and the Erie, with the line to their passenger station and the Erie yard crossing the DLW line. Were looking south on the Lackawanna at a CP train coming up the old DLW, and heading onto the D&H in a reworking of the junction, now all switches with the diamond long removed. The signals guarded the BX crossing, but have been out of service for a long tiime by the date of this photo.
An unusual leader is in charge of 555 today as it passes the south end of Bevier St with 80 cars
CPs GP 38s were not common in Binghamton, so this is an unusual meet-two of them pass at the south end of Bevier St. CP 3032 leads a yard move taking cars to E Binghamton, 3041 is leading 555 north, including a pair of MLWs in the consist.
After getting a nice shot of a CP Intermodal at Beare Road, I picked up the CP Havelock train on my radio scanner as it left Agincourt Yard, so it was a bit of a chase to Claremont to see if I could snap a shot of train and elevator before the clouds rolled in.
Three EMD workhorses plow through the tiny town of Claremont enroute to Havelock on the former Kawartha Lakes line.
A pair of GP38-2s perform what is usually a nocturnal task, due to the having to use a grade crossing to cross a 6-lane highway. This is done to minimize the impact of traffic flow through the centre of Lethbridge, as backing a string of grain hoppers into the plant at 5mph might make a few of the morning commuters a bit annoyed.
