BN 6328 east (in a northerly direction) on a cloudy afternoon

OIBU rolls out of downtown Endicott along North St, and is about to pass the site of the Erie station, torn down in 1976 shortly after Conrail take over of the EL. The white building at right of the train in the distance is part of the IBM complex.

This spot was a good place for photo, though most fans paid more attention to the semaphores a mile to the east. Ayres Rd, which crossed the tracks at the signals, came back around and went over them on a bridge. By this time, the bridge was closed and the deck removed, but the end of it was still a good spot. We see OIBU rolling west approaching it, at the same spot where Bob Wilt caught the LV Sayre Turn, which ran on the now abandoned LV Auburn Branch, being overtaken by an EL westbound, seen on page 79 of EL in Color, Vol 2.

I was one to chase til the light ran out, or maybe a little later. This BUOI is at Kirkwood getting the last glimmer of setting sun.

OICG, one of the several incarnations of the train that c`nnected upstate NY to eastern PA and Jersey via the Lehigh Line-it also was ALCG and ALBU-rolls north through a wintry cornfield as it makes its way to Sayre, and then onto the Southern Tier at Waverly. It will terminate at Gang Mills yard near Corning with today's train of 94 cars.
