CNW power passes near KC Union Station
The power for FRSE is sitting at the yard office in Pittsfield, as the crew gets its paperwork together for their pck up. Eight units have the train in hand tonight, though I'm guessing the last four are in tow to Selkirk for servicing, almost home with their trip to Selkirk.
A westbound train throttles up as it takes the signal to cross the Central Vermont.
This westbound CR train has a pair of NYCTA cars right behind the power. Theyll take the long way home, going to New York via Selkirk and Jersey, then a carfloat.
A westbound, probably SPSE, rolls under the bridge at the top of the grade on the B&A behind typical Boston Line power.
A pair of C30-7As wait for their next assignment outside the shop. The excursion train can be seen at far right.
An eastbound merchandise train approaches Syracuse, passing the Blue Circle plant. The two traling units are C30-7A's, a Conrail only unit that developed 3000 HP from a 12 cylinder power plant. The 50 units in the group were based in Syracuse and seen systemwide, but were a staple on the B&A.
Caught this on the way home from Palmer center Conrail # 6560
CR 6560
BOSE-X at mile 130.2, the point at which the west end of the "new" and "old locations" join/separate.
Westbound FRSE nearing Ballou's at MP 135. For those who take the time to read the captions, note the amount of snow in these early photos of this day, and how much more there was later on. These were near blizzard conditions on occasion.
SEBO-B approaching the Chester depot.
TV-9 nearing MP 127, one mile west of the depot in Chester. That's not a tall trailer back in the train, but the old coal tower looming up in the distance.
Going away of NHSE at the "new location" on the big man-made fill.
There's a little less snow in the "lower elevations" here at Huntington, as SEMB rolls through.
