Leaving my house to head to Walmart in Wiggins and on my way I was able to catch the southbound run of the Hattiesburg to Gulfport local heading back to Gulfport, MS.
Kansas City Southern train No. 53 was rolling off of the Morganza Floodway bridge and into Morganza, Louisiana behind SD40-2 661 and SD45T-2 4506. The train was bound for the CSX in New Orleans, and the first few cars on the train were solid fuel motor cars for a space shuttle flight, along with an escort car and a few spacer cars, all heading to the <I>Kennedy Space Center</I>.

Southbound Kansas City Southern coal train No. 91 was rolling past the depot at Siloam Springs, Arkansas. The locomotives on the front were three SD40-2's - KCS 661, BN 7268 and KCS 639 - along with BN C30-7 5109; while the mid-train slaves were KCS SD40-2 675, SD40 607 and SD40-2 681. The coal originated on the BN in Wyoming's Powder River Basin, and the train was delivered to the KCS in Kansas City. No. 91 was headed for Southwestern Electric Power's Welsh Power Plant near Mount Pleasant, Texas, along the railroad's Texas Subdivision.
I got a text from a buddy of mine telling me that KCS 661 the lead engine had engine problems and the crew had no way to turn the power around so they sent KCS 2857 out of the KCS Gulfport yard long hood forward all the way to Hattieburg to be the lead engine on the Gulfport local to pull the train into the KCS Gulfport Yard.
