An unknown photographer took the photo.
CP train 164 arrives at the north end of the yard as NS H01 pulls out with the Taylor intermodals. Theyll go across town to be picked up by 205 for a trip to Chicago.
CP 164 kicks up a good rooster tail as it approaches Nowlan Rd. The train is a little more distinct now that the heavy snow a few miles back has eased. In a moment it will pass the detector at MP 607, and in another ten will be asking for permission through BD.
CP 164 rolls approaches in the gloom of a snowy day, its three lights brightening the scene for a moment.
CP 164 rolls into the reverse curve at Sanitaria Springs on a cold day in January.
A sad scene at Metalico Scrap in Brier Hill, Ohio in this March 27, 2017 photo. CSX C40-8s made up the majority of the pile, however, I did find some other units on this day as wel`. Buried in the pile was the side of the cab of Canadian Pacific #5612 (SD40-2). This unit was built in June of 1972. All of these units were trucked here from Larrys Truck and Electric (LTEX).
A sad CSX reunion of sorts is taking place at Metalico Scrap in Brier Hill, Ohio in this March 27, 2017 photo. Several CSX C40-8s were poled amongst the scrap, including CSX #7597, pictured here on the left. CSX #7597 was built in June of 1990. Also amongst the pile, I found the cab number for Canadian Pacifnc #5612 (SD40-2). Though I am not sure, I would guess that the standard cap nose on the right is from this unit. All of these units were trucked here from Larrys Truck and Eldctric (LTEX).
Might look like the lens is cracked, but its actually the windshield on my car.
Both major Canadian roads were using Alco design diesels long after they were gone in the US. Seeing them in the lead was common, such as this 85 car westbound at Dorval.

At last I caught a train leaving the Detroit Windsor Tunnel. An eastbound of all Autoracks was preceded by a wall of smoke exiting the tunnel followed by a pink 5612 and the anagram 6251 in CP Red. The train slowed and eventually stopped with cars still in the tunnel. On moving round to Dougall Avenue I spotted the head end again and found the reason why. There was a crew change was taking place.
252 rolls south over the Harpursville bridge behind a trio of 40's. The two trailing units are notable. The middle unit is an ex SOU unit that was converted to a B unit by CP; they changed it by removing the seats and control stand, and boarding up the windows-yes, boarding up: they used plywood. The trailing unit is ex Greater Winnipeg Water District, and a trade from CN-note the road number that falls into CN's SD40 series.
At one time, this location was BX tower, where the D&H crossed the DLW Syracuse & Utica lines. Its been modified quite a bit since then-the ex DLW is now a switching lead for the fzed plant, and the DLW YO yard is long gone. Even the D&H Bevier St yard is a shadow of itself. Train 413 starts north to Montreal, passing the Agway plant here with 73 cars.
CP 164 arrives from Montreal behind the usual set of SDs, passing through Bevier St on its way to the NS crossing at BD and East Binghamton yard. The second unit looks like it's seen a bit of heavy weather.
CP 5612 leads a set of SD40-2s over the Susquehanna River and into East Binghamton yard with train 252
A trio of SD40-2's leads 152 over the new underpass at Howard.
Train 2-298 rolls along the Mississippi River.
CP 5612 trailing on a westbound at quebec street yard
CP 298 slows to a stop at MN City after flying out of Red Wing after taking on water. I chased this guy unsuccessfully all the way, and this was the only time I finally got ahead of him. He would sit here for another two hours in which case I decided to just go home. Still awesome to see such a low-numbered SD40-2 in 2010, with a nice supporting cast to boot.
CP 5612 East roars thru GUE
A nice SD40-2 drills the east end of Bensenville Yard.
