Once 80 strong, NS’s SD70 fleet has dwindled to only 4 active and 49 in storage (at the time of writing). With NS’s SD70ACC program having already claimed 27 of the venerable units. That along with NS having delved head first into PSR, older units will be first to be sidelined and stored. So the future for the SD70 fleet looks rather bleak and with only 4 active units roaming the rails that certainly could be an indication of things coming to pass. For now though it was nice just getting to see one personally if for the last time.

NS 2556 brought up the rear of NS i2V.
NS 2556 lead a short NS 15T.
Light engines are at MP 29 east on the Lehigh Line. Sign next to MP is marked Begin Measured Mile. Another rail fan also takes pictures of the engines.
Light engines are between Prospect Avenue Grade Crossing seen behind the engines and are just west of the New Market Road Grade Crossing

Afterward they spend work duty and, drop off inbound cars around at NS Jello yard in Dover, DE for NS K94 local train then they begin to head way to Harrington, DE

NS 2556 is the highest numbered original NS SD70. The ones above her are ex-Conrail. Like many of her sisters in this group, she is in desperate need of new paint.
