Acadiana Railway Company (AKDN) 1503 - EMD SW1500

My first encounter with AKDN was the out of the way branch from north of Donaldsonville to the Lula Sugar refinery. It must have been a brakeman's worst enemy-no run-arounds, so they had to shove from the interchange to the refinery, about 5 miles. The branch ran from nowhere to nowhere, and many trips there failed to find them running. Today, it appears they have quit running, and the rails are partly buried by surrounding farm fields.
