Amtrak Alco RS3 120 (built 1952 as PRR 8458 to PC 5458) switching SDP40F 526 (built 1973 became ATSF SDF40-2 5255 to BN 6965) in the former Santa Fe coach yard at 21st Street in Chicago, Illinois - May 11, 1977.
Amtak used the Santa Fe coach yard for its passenger equipment in Chicago, here seen from the inbound Broadway. The Santa Fe presence is readily apparent, even though its been seven years since they last used the facility. A couple of RS 3s and an ex Frisco GP 7 are working today.
Amtrak RS3 120 at about 22nd Street in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in June 1978, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The tracks curving to the left once led to Dearborn Street Station, closed May 2, 1971. Note the ICG freight, waiting for clearance, in the right background.
