For the first time i got to see an AN motor... but it was quite too late as i really missed shooting them at St. Joe. rats.
My absolute favorite road in Florida is the AN. The Apalachicola Northerns blue and white scheme was simple but yet sweet and is classy. Here, basking in the sun- AN 721 is the last AN GP15-T to be in the blue and white scheme as the railroad was purchased by GWI in 05 and operations would go downhill from there. The AN operates once a week now and only runs between Chattahoochee and Hosford, FL to GP. Rumor has it the 721 will be dipped once mechanical repairs at Panama Citys Bayline shops is complete.

The last AN GP15-1 still in the classic scheme in the area is seen at Grimes AL having just brought the Bayline local from Abbeville AL. The Bayline uses the CSX mainline from Grimes to Dothan to get back on home rails.
The Bayline local from Abbeville is seen tied down on the south leg of the wye at Grimes AL. The local gets on the CSX mainline for the short trip to Dothan AL. Recently they have been tying up at Grimes on the return trip. Not sure the reason.
A pair of units sit on the west end of the old Southern yard in Hilton. One sports the corporate GWI colors while the other is still in the AN paint scheme.
And not a single orange & black in sight....

The Chattahoochee Bay local is seen with an oddball locomotive consist. Bayline and AN units still in their classic schemes lead a GSWR GP9 that was moving from Arlington GA to Panama City FL for some shop work.

A roster shot on what I think is the last AN GP15T still in the classic scheme. There are several more the area but they have all gotten the Orange/black GWI scheme applied now. This one is dangerously close to the CIRR paint shop. I am not sure where this one ended up and it may very well be about to get the orange/black dip.
To my knowledge this is the last AN GP15T still in the classic AN scheme. I think there is a SW1500 still in the AN scheme and unless there are some elsewhere, those are the last 2 that haven't gotten the orange/black GWI scheme. I'm not sure where this one ended up but it is dangerously close to the CIRR paint shop. It may have ended up there.
The south end of the Bayline yard shows the results of a flurry of repainting that is going on with 3 of the 4 units in the corporate orange/black scheme. The pair of units on the left are former Virginia Railway Express units now designated as GP39-2's by GWI. On the right are a pair of former AN GP15-1's, one in the corporate scheme and one retaining the AN scheme....for now.
A variety of paint schemes is seen in the Bayline yard in Dothan AL. A pait of former AN GP15-2's, one in the corporate scheme while the other retains the AN scheme, are seen along with a new arrival from the Virginia Railway Express.
