ARR 4013 leads a coal empty north through Matanuska Junction. It cost me a rock chip in my windshield to drive north to catch this guy, but it was worth it!

ARR 4013 rounds the bend as it approaches Beluga Point with a southbound Seward freight.

A closer look at the power on this Seward-bound freight. 3 MACs seems like a lot of power for a train consisting of 2 loads and 5 empty flats, but there's a much larger train waiting at Seward to be brought back to Anchorage.

Three SD70MACs power a dinky 7-car (2 loads, 5 empties) train along the Turnagain Arm bound for Seward where it will pick up a much larger train off the barge and bring it back north to Anchorage.

At the time, I thought this was the final gravel train of the 2012 season, but turns out it wasn't. Regardless, here's ARR 4013 leading a long string of gravel south toward Anchorage as it splits the signals at South Siding Switch Reves.
