In moderm times, there has never been more than 2two trains daily in both directions, so the line is dark. P31 is issued a track warrant from the Asheville tower before it begins its run.
I've often wondered why the Murphy Branch doesn't have abs signals/searchlights, but I think that since the line doesn't get much activity between Asheville and Sylva, there is no need.
