Once again on the home page, 05-15-2019. I was looking through the Train Watcher's Guide to St Louis this evening, which was published in 1983. Funny to see references to roads now long gone, or now part of UP(SSW, CNW, MP, A&S). One of the thoughts that crossed my mind was seeing power such as in this photo-patch painted CR units of various heritage-trundling down shaky track, and how all the first line power of that age is now retired or working in yards. I can't recall the last time I saw an SW or two running a transfer somewhere in a major terminal city; it used to be common. A lot of the track is gone, too, as railroads combined and rationalized. Progress, I suppose, but I still can't help feel a sense of loss when I realize what isn't there any more.

Yeah, we were. In our minds, we still are. But where did all that cool stuff go?? It seems to have all disappeared-but I haven't changed!! Homepage 09-14-2017

Cool photo. I guess the March of Time caught me off-guard, too! :)
