A Quiet Day At The Diesel Shops

Contributor Pick

Sad to think that this Quartet of "Barn Style" or "Draper Taper" SD60s was sold off to K&K Recycling when CN held an auction on May 29, 2017 where they sold off their entire SD60F fleet. Now one and a half years later these engines return to the MacMillan yard storage tracks where CN stored them before the sell off at the Transcona shops in Illinois. By the end of August these engines were transported to K&K’s Pickering facility where they were scrapped. Apparently, almost all if not all 66 SD60Fs that CN owned were sold to scrappers because after being in captive service between Edmonton and Toronto from 2008 to 2012, these engines were completely worn out having extremely high mileages and high occurrences of engine failures.
