| Waters. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-February of 1966. Shown here are numerous deadlined diesel-electric locomotives. Among them (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2027, #9737, and #9735. All are BF-16's built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #2027 was built in April 1952 and retired in January of 1967. #9737 and #9735 were built in May of 1951 and retired in July of 1966. Also visible are locomotives built by GM-EMD and Lima-Hamilton. The wooden structure at the left protected the discharge of coal from hopper cars during inclement weather. |
