Description:  I thought it was dog stew when out of the corner of my eye I saw this jet black dog flying through the tall grass heading directly at the train - only to put the brakes on and come to a skidding stop just inches from the tracks. This pooch has probably done the same daily train-chase-bark routine a thousand times, and was likely in no danger, but it sure scared the heck out of me.

Description:  In my quietest January ever, with just six outings in only remotely decent weather, I at least get to wind up the month with a lucky catch of the CP freight transfer at Brookfield. I ventured over to this crossing to check out the new CN signal shack and signal stand, and see if the bush had been cut back making for a better photo angle. When I got there, the new signal stand was showing flashing orange, and shortly after came the 11-car CP train in glorious morning sunshine. A short chase later and I caught the train back on CP rails at Miller Road overpass.
