Album Info:This album features pictures of trains on my long trip out west, this album including pictures between North Platte and Cheyenne. This year for vacation my aunt, brother, and I are headed out to Yellowstone Nat. Park and other various stops along the way. We will be going through Nebraska, Colorodo, Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and back). It was a fun trip! Enjoy!

Description:  After shooting the engines on display at Cody Park we went down to the big grain elevator, owned by Maywood Coop. Imprinted on each bin of the elevator is a letter that spells out the name "North Platte" My goal was to get a train passing it, but unfortunately every time I tried to I would just miss it. A coal train was passing through a couple minutes before I took this particular photo.

Description:  The Challenger and DDA40X arent the only locomotives on display in North Platte. Over in Memorial Park, UP X480, a Baldwin Locomotive Works 2-8-0, sits on display. This engine was used primarily on shorter moves from North Platte west on the Overland Route. Whats unique about this locomotive is the coal and water tenders essentially are held in a singular tender. The locomotive was donated to the City of North Platte in February of 1956 after retirement.

Description:  After finally leaving North Platte, it didnt take long for us to stop again. US 30 was dug up for a 15 mile stretch west of Hershey, NE, so we had to get off and head towards I80 there. Well, of course when we crossed the tracks, I noticed an eastbound inbound train. We headed over into Hershey. The town is essentially divided by the tracks and there is only one road that goes over them (the one we crossed), so, to compensate for that, a pedestrian bridge has been built over the tracks, which allows a great vantage point for railfans. Underneath the pedestrian bridge is UP 2563, a caboose now on static display here by the Hersey Lions Club
