Description:  Bowers. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Nelson Bowers that was taken at Broad Street Station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 13 April 1947. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6538 and #6513. Both are Class "E" (4-4-2) "Atlantics" built in Juniata. #6538 was built as E-5 number "38" for the New York, Philadelphia, & Norfolk Railroad during 1913; rebuilt as an E-5S in 1913; acquired by the PRR and renumbered "6538" in August of 1918; and retired in September of 1949. #6513 was built as E-6 number "46" for the New York, Philadelphia, & Norfolk Railroad during 1914; acquired by the PRR and renumbered "1649" in April of 1917; renumbered "6513" in August of 1918; and retired in May of 1951. In this context, they're ready to depart for an "Off The Beaten Path" railfan excursion. (SPM)

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #830, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during 1917 and retired in April of 1958. Visible on the right is a portion of PRR engine #5883, an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in April of 1949 and rated at 2,000 horsepower.

Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4315 and #4258. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #4315 was constructed as an I-1S during December of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in July of 1941, and retired in October of 1959. #4258 was built as an I-1S during July of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in September of 1942, and retired in September of 1959. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4315 and #4258. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #4315 was constructed as an I-1S during December of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in July of 1941, and retired in October of 1959. #4258 was built as an I-1S during July of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in September of 1942, and retired in September of 1959. Note the Fireman along side the locomotive; he's just uncoupled the second tender from the train so that the locomotives can proceed to the Watering Point.
