WAB 2-10-2 #2516 - Wabash RR
Title:  WAB 2-10-2 #2516 - Wabash RR
Description:  Built by Alco-Brooks in July of 1917, this Wabash 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive #2516 was a workhorse on the Wabash until being sold to Missouri Pacific in August of 1942. It became MP #1718 but after some rebuilding, the boiler pressure was dropped to 200 psia and the tractive effort fell to 72,620 lb. Sadly the loco received an unwanted Christmas present by being scrapped by MP on 12/24/1952 at Sedalia, MO. Specs - serial #57568, class L-1, 63"(64") drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 395,000 lb, tractive effort of 75,079 lb. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo. Eric Reinert helped identify the location as Decatur, IL. I believe the date is near its sale date of 1942.

WAB 2-8-2 #2270 - Wabash RR
Title:  WAB 2-8-2 #2270 - Wabash RR
Description:  Here is an example of an Alco-Schenectady 2-8-2 Mikado built in January of 1924 as Wabash #2270. The loco lasted until being retired and scrapped in September of 1955 as the dieselization came to the Wabash RR. This looks like the scrap line since the main rod and bell have been removed. Specs - serial #65076, class K-3, 64" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 331,000 lb, tractive effort of 65,063 lb. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo but my "guess-timation" puts it at Decatur, IL around its scrapping date since it has already lost its main rod.

WAB 4-8-4 #2900 - Wabash RR
Title:  WAB 4-8-4 #2900 - Wabash RR
Description:  Great example of a Baldwin 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomotive built in June of 1930 as Wabash #2900. The loco lasted until being scrapped in November of 1955 after nearly 25 years. The photo appears to be the scrap line since the bell and main rod have already been removed. Specs - serial #61417, class 01, 70" drivers, 29 x 32" cylinders, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, engine weight of 454,090 lbs and a tractive effort of 70,817 lb. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo but my "guess-timation" puts it at Decatur, IL around its scrap date of 11/1955.

WAB 4-8-4 #2910 - Wabash RR
Title:  WAB 4-8-4 #2910 - Wabash RR
Description:  Another fine example of a Baldwin 4-8-4 Northern type locomotive built in November of 1930 is this Wabash #2910. The loco lasted until being scrapped in January of 1956 after nearly 26 years. This looks like the scrap line since the main rod has been removed. Specs - serial #61516, class 01, 70" drivers, 29 x 32" cylinders, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, engine weight of 454,090 lbs and a tractive effort of 70,817 lb. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo. Piecing together info makes me think this is Decatur, IL around its scrap date, hence the 11/1955 date.
