WAB 2-8-2 #2270 - Wabash RR
Here is an example of an Alco-Schenectady 2-8-2 Mikado built in January of 1924 as Wabash #2270. The loco lasted until being retired and scrapped in September of 1955 as the dieselization came to the Wabash RR. This looks like the scrap line since the main rod and bell have been removed. Specs - serial #65076, class K-3, 64" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 331,000 lb, tractive effort of 65,063 lb. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo but my "guess-timation" puts it at Decatur, IL around its scrapping date since it has already lost its main rod.
