Built by Alco-Schnectady in April fo 1913, it served for nearly 43 years before reaching this last sad moment. In 1952, it was renumbered 581. No exact scrapping date was given. Title:  CNW 4-6-2 #607 - Chicago & North Western
Description:  With a head of steam and a tender full of coal, CNW 4-6-2 Pacific #607 is ready to roll on its day's schedule. Built by Alco-Schenectady in December of 1915 as CNW 1607, ti was later renumbered to CNW 607 in 1952. No final disposition date was found for the loco but it was scrapped. Specs - serial #55537, class E, 75" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 261,000 lb, tractive effort of 36,700 lb. A stoker was applied in March of 1941. No photographer was listed for the photo.

Description:  Sitting in an unidentified yard in the Chicago area is CNW 4-6-2 Pacific #610. Built by Alco-Schenectady in October of 1916 as CNW #1610, it was later rebuilt in March of 1941 with added stoker and an increased psi and tractive effort. In 1952, the loco was renumbered to just CNW 610. No final disposition date was found. Rebuilt specs - serial #56229, class E, 75" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 263,500 lb, tractive effort of 39,600 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo.

Title:  SP 4-6-2 #612 - Southern Pacific
Description:  Built by Alco-Brooks in 1913 as Texas & New Orleans #922, it was merged into the Southern Pacific in May 1923 as T&NO #612 (2nd). Specs - class P-6, as built - 77" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine weight of 281,300 lb, tractive effort of 38,636 lb., rebuilt in July 1935 - 210 psi boiler pressure, Delta trailing truck with booster, engine weight of 291,000 lb, tractive effort 40,550 lb + 11,500 lb booster. Originally it carried the number 1614 but after being rebuilt in July of 1943 to a class E-S, it was renumbered to 614 in 1952. The last time it ran was on 5/22/1956 when a diesel broke down and needed help. Final disposition unknown. Original specs - serial #56233, nee-#1614, E class, 75" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine weight of 260,000 lb, tractive effort of 36,692 lb.

Surprisingly, the loco was still in full service in 1954 and ironically, its last run on 5/22/1956 in Chicago was to replace a broken down diesel. Rebuilt specs - serial #56233, class E, 75" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 263,500 lb, tractive effort of 39,600 lb. A stoker was applied in May of 1942. Description:  Long before an SW1 carried the number 615, it belonged to the Alco-Schenectady 4-6-2 Pacific built in October of 1916 but as #1615 originally. The loco was later rebuilt as an E-S class member and renumbered 615 in 1952 as seen in the photo. It stayed on the roster through 10/1 1952. Disposition unknown. An unknown photographer caught it as it sat in Marshfield, WI. Original specs - serial #56234, nee-#1615, E class, 75" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine weight of 260,000 lb, tractive effort of 36,692 lb.
