Track 9, the farthest from the station building, is not used often for passenger service, and this area at the south end throat tracks is often used to store Capitol Corridor equipment between runs. This is the case with 2123. When needed, the set of equipment will relocate to a track closer to the station, board passengers, and depart for Sacramento. |

At one time, F59s were common on Amtraks western corridor services, but with the sale of Amtraks 21 units to Metra, the state-owned PHIs became the last bastion of EMD units in Amtrak service in the west. F59s are also operated by Sounder in the Pacific Northwest and by Metrolink in Southern California, although the Metrolink engines are reaching the end of their careers as well. |
