Dark and rusty         
The steepest standard grade mainline railway grade in the US lies dormant as the sun begins to set on this April 2005 evening. Seventeen years ago I stood here in awe with my father as I watched my first Belmont Coal Train descend into Melrose. Will it ever happen again?
