New Haven PAs at Boston Switch
The westbound is joining the original Providence & Worcester route built in 1847 through Central Falls. The next year the Boston & Providence built a 4.4 mile extension from its main line to here (Boston Switch-the "west junction"). The B&P had built its main line to India Point in 1835 but when the P&W and New York, Providece & Boston built a Providence Union Station on the Cove, the B&P could only reach the new station by using the P&W route from Boston Switch.
