power for Extra 378 west at Northtown
NP 378 at Northtown followed by 3 "b" units 1 f3 and 2 f7's!!! Note the steam engine bell and the white class lamps above the number boards.... meaning an extra train created by the dispatcher to be given what rights that he the dispatcher might so wish to give!!! Running as Extra 378 west out of Northtown on the double track across Minnesota... they could become superior to a passenger train or a second section of a passenger train which would then display green class lamps for a second section following... or perhaps they might even run in the place of a passenger train thus fulfilling its schedule!!! Any of this could be possible--- if the dispatcher wished and willed for it to be so!!! And this is how it was, in the days before computers!!!

Robert Anderson General Love those bells. Remember the handfull of Geeps that stilll had the rope pull and the bell would sometimes go all the way around? That was before computers. Nice shot. 3/6/2018 1:22:17 PM
