CB&Q Detector Tow Car 9060
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Detector Tow Car 9060 at Naperville, Illinois on January 25, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This Tow Car was built in 1951 on a chassis supplied by Buda, powered by a Buda 150hp diesel engine connected to a Fuller Company transmission and mechanical drive system. The carbody was fabricated by Jacob Press & Company, and the components were assembled in CB&Q's Aurora Shops. It was built to replace Tow Car 9040, a Buda "school bus" built in 1940. Trailing is Detector Car 3, which contained a small diesel engine and testing apparatus to detect rail defects.
