| Burlington Northern Railroad class ARS11 4185 at Cicero, Illinois, on an unknown day in September 1980, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in July 1958 as Northern Pacific 905 (c/n 82949), retired August 1980. The NP acquired 18 RS11's (900-917) between January 1958 and June 1960. The first six were not equipped with dynamic brakes. The RS11's became BN 4180-4197. The RS11 (Alco's designation was DL-701) marked the introduction of the Model 251 prime mover, which replaced the troublesome Model 244. |
