| Burlington Northern Railroad SD7 6053 at Clyde, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built as CB&Q SD7 405 in November 1952 (c/n 17401) on EMD Order 5140, it became BN 6053 and was retired in August 1983. It has a CB&Q stainless steel model plate indicating that it is an SD9, and the frame is also stenciled SD9 at the rear. I believe this might be a shop error. It still has the class lights centered over the numberboards and mounted on access doors. To upgrade this unit to SD9 standards might indicate the changeout of the prime mover from a 567B to a 567C. I'm still investigating this anomaly. |
