American Orient Express along the Flathead River
Riding the American Orient Express was like taking an Ocean Cruise but on rails. It went to all the best places, arriving before breakfast and leaving in the dark after dinner. It had the best of everything that could be offered. Alas, the economy put an end to it and the train is no more. On a storm ridden summer day in June 2005 we see the AOE eastbound on the famed Northern Pacific Railroads North Coast Limited route along the Flathead River near Perma, MT
