| Chesapeake & Ohio Railway SD18 1809 at Pullman Junction on the south side of Chicago, Illinois on April 20, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in January 1963 (c/n 27607) it was later renumbered to C&O 7309, later becoming INRD 7309, then IBCX 7309. This illustrates the C&O version, riding on Alco trimount trucks from RSD-5 trade-in's. C&O opted for the low-nose version. The fuel tank breathing apparatus is apparent behind the cab. It would appear this is a feature of late model SD9's, SD18's and SD24's. |
