Roberto Alaniz General Is this owned by a museum or abandoned by Southern? 7/3/2011 10:27:10 PM
Jim Satterwhite General It was like this 12-years ago. I would say abandoned by the Southern and not worth repair. Can you say "how much does it weigh?" 7/4/2011 1:12:28 AM
David Barrentine General Being in the woods has probably helped preserve the paint for so long. Left over from the defunct Louisville & Wadley RR. Needs to go to a museum, preferably the Southeastern RR Museum in Atlanta. 7/4/2011 9:55:02 AM
David Barrentine General Nice shot by the way. 7/4/2011 9:55:18 AM
Jared Blocker General Believe it or not, the unit was on the NS locomotive roster until 2003. After that she was all Mr. Billy Gibson's (owner of L&W). He would jump her off and let her idle every once in a while to keep her from freezing up. Hopefully he is still doing it. The is one of 3 SW1's originally owned by the G&F. 7/6/2011 6:25:01 PM
Tim Huemmer General Glad that thing is still there. I visited it several years ago. This does need to be preserved 7/31/2011 10:44:28 PM
Jeffrey Bicht General The pictures I posted here of it where taken in 2006. I talked to Billy Gibson the same day and he said he still started it several times a year. He does not own it he leases it. I think the reason he still does is he owns many a freight car he leases which can be seen all over the east coast with LW markings. 1/7/2012 7:56:58 PM
