| NZR class Ka 943 (a 4-8-4) and class Da 1459 banking up the 1 in 40 graded Raurimu Spiral on an unknown date (best guess, sometime in 1963), Agfa print by J. A. T. Terry, Chuck Zeiler collection. The description is from hand written notations on the back of the print. The date is a guess, based on the built date of the diesel, an EMD G12, built in Canada between August and September 1962, and allowing for transportation time from Canada to New Zealand. Scrapping of the 4-8-4's began in 1964. |
