Mar 4, 2006 - CSX 5534 on work train
This work train with ballast cars sits idle on the former ACL Florence-Robbins mainline. There is a spur of the old AK line that goes south of Denmark, but I do not know how far it goes. These AK mileposts take over the C&WC at Robbins all the way to Spartanburg.

ANDY TAYLOR General The line this train sits on is only used to serve a door plant about a 1/2 mile down the track and ends about 3/4 past the plant. This is whats left of this portion of the Orangeburg Sub which was taken up from Denmark to Robbins And from Denmark to Cope in 1989. Now, CSX really regrets taking it up because in late 90' the SCE&G coal power plant was built and that track could have delivered coal a straight shot from Augusta to Cope but now it is routed all the way around through Sumter into Cope.CSX did not do their homework on this one and it makes me mad because I live just through the woods from the old track bed! 3/15/2006 2:58:12 PM
Ashley James General Is this plant still served? pretty hard to tell from Google... 6/25/2012 3:27:23 PM
Eugene Cain General It was a good by-pass route as well. A line Trains could come up the S Line here and be rerouted back to the A Line at Florence. CSX in Blunderville. I took many Pictures here. Will post them soon. The Diamond remained in place through late 1993. I also have a few Pictures here in 1986 when the route was still in use. 10/22/2012 8:33:52 AM
