BNSF 7836 SD40-2 on Talgo-LRC transfer table  Contributor's Pick!
I returned to the transfer table with charged batteries to find BNSF 7836 on there, earlier I had a chance to get a shot of MRL 118 (GP9) being transferred while receiving a complete rebuild. MRL 118 had its engine exposed and only the cab intact. No outer shell on the back or radiator or stacks, it was quite amazing.

Patrick Petroff General BNSF brings in a lot of units, but they are not BNSF shops. The MRL line runs through Livingston so there are quite a few old EMDs that come through and some NREX units. They do pretty much everything at these shops including complete rebuilds, overhauls and painting. Talgo has declined to take a $300,000 loan from the city to rebuild or restore some of the old NP shops, also saying that they "were going to concentrate on their mining." I'm sort of skeptical on what that is ultimately implying. 3/17/2006 3:00:40 PM
