Tyler McKinney General Me again, ha. I assume that this is Evergreen Packaging in Waynesville, about what time do they switch the Waynesville area. And only on Thursdays? 8/31/2012 1:25:55 PM
Tim Keegan General Yes this is Evergreen or Litte Champion or whatever its called. This photo was taken on a Saturday morning around 10ish. I have seen them switch this place almost everyday of the week except Sundays. As for switching Southern Concrete further west I don't know. This day they happened to be going there after they switched this. I would guess that Southern Concrete is on an as needed basis. A while back they brought six hoppers to Southern Concrete in Sylva and I haven't seen them since. 8/31/2012 9:35:45 PM
Tyler McKinney General Ok Thank You. Last set of questions and I'll leave you comment board alone. You have a lot of good information, and I'm grateful for that. About Southern Concrete in Sylva, when did you last see them, last timeI saw hoppers there was about the last time I saw GSMR interchange. The switching technique there is awesome and I'd love to see it in person. And finallay, do have any Idea when the guest locomotive for Railfest will be arriving, is it coming by rail or truck? Again Thank You. 9/1/2012 8:43:55 AM
Tim Keegan General Yeah man no problem. I'm no wealth of information but what I do know I'm happy to share. As for NS in Sylva at Southern Concrete it was maybe a few months back maybe May? It was after we stopped running to the interchange. They brought two loads of three hoppers. One on Tuesday and one on Thursday which is the day they switch Jackson Paper. The following Tuesday they came and got the hoppers and haven't been back since. I was astonished to see them sitting there. Gravtity switching is really fun to watch and more fun to do. We do it all the time in our Dillsboro yard and occasionally in Bryson. When you have no where to run around a car or cut of cars its the easiest and quickest way. It can however be a little dangerous and if you don't know what you're doing you can tie the brake too fast and get the car bound up in the frog. We will sometimes kick a car up the hill and duck the engine in the siding and let the car stop and roll back by. The engine will come out and couple on the fly 9/1/2012 9:20:48 PM
