CB&Q 4-4-2 #2572 - Chicago, Burlington & Quincy  Contributor's Pick!       
Like its sister #2565 in this album, this Burnham, Wms & Co "Atlantic" type locomotive was built in 1905 as #2716, a P-3-C class unit. In 1924, the CB&Q shops rebuilt this as #2572, a P-5 class with 78" drivers and developing a 210 psi boiler pressure. Date is approximate.

Chuck Zeiler General Hi Gary, thanks for posting these two CB&Q steam photos. My best guess on the location would be Aurora, Illinois, Note also that the locomotive is equipped with a larger than usual turbo generator, Steam locomotives used in suburban service were equipped with these generators to supply electicity to power the suburban cars lights. 11/17/2013 10:20:36 AM
