Metro North test train  Contributor's Pick!
The Port Washington Branch had a test facility at Shea Stadium, where there were a number of unused tracks that had been built for the 1964/65 Worlds Fair. Off line trains were somtimes seen, usually new equipment being tested, but occasionally NYCTA cars too, since the voltages were similar, and they shared an over running third rail. I recall seeing R42 cars going past my house in Little Neck. Here we see some Metro North cars waiting to go east on a test.
