I saw in a video once where Southern Railway built these cars specifically for carrying tobacco to market. Built 1962.

T.J. Mahan General Wow, nice catch, havn't seen one of those in a long time. I grew up in Lexington, KY down the road from the RJ Reynolds tobacco processing facility. I remember seeing these lined up by the dozens. Alas that was 15 years ago and the plant and spur are long gone! 5/22/2006 10:10:32 AM
