SP&S #600 MOUNT HOOD
Built in 1950 by P-S in Lot #6829 to Plan #4163 as SP&S 6RM-3DB sleeper 25 seat buffet lounge #600 MOUNT HOOD, 1 of 2 such cars (#600 & #601 MOUNT ST. HELENS) built in that Lot for the Portland section of the Mid-Century EMPIRE BUILDER; the Lot was ordered in September 1946 and the 2 cars were delivered in February 1950. These 2 cars were delivered in the Omaha Orange & Pullman Green of the EMPIRE BUILDER, and like most SP&S-owned lightweight cars, were later repainted to SP&S Green & Yellow. The MOUNT HOOD was intended to be renumbered as BN #1205, but this was not applied (the MOUNT ST. HELENS was intended to be renumbered as BN #1206). BN donated the MOUNT HOOD to the Pacific Northwest Chapter NRHS in 1972. For more info, see the Pacific Northwest Chapters website: http://www.pnwc-nrhs.org/mthood.html. EXIF: 2:55 PM, f/4.1 @ 1/90
